Family Life

I live in the middle of America in a small town with my husband, Mike, and our children.  My house is close enough to the city to know I like to attend performances of the OKC Philharmonic yet far enough away that I can see open country from here.  I like to hear the birds sing in the morning and the frogs croak at night.

Our lives are busy, that’s true….between Scouting, church, school, work, and the pets, we stay pretty busy.  We don’t have much family here so we “adopted” some from among the friends we’ve made here.   We’ll just add them to the lifetime friends that we’ve gained while growing up and growing old together.

Mike and I have known each other forever….my mom was his den leader when he was in cub scouts back in the day.  We went to the same schools, played in the band together, and then walked arm in arm into the tomorrows that have now become so many yesterdays.  Our marriage isn’t perfect, but it is blessed and God is teaching us about His love as we live each day together.

God has blessed us with two amazing children….who don’t look or act much like children any more….but they will be my babies forever even though they cringe when they hear me call them that.  Our son is now the tallest of us all and our darling daughter is catching up with mom very quickly these days.

We have a dog.  His name is Duke – yep – just like John Wayne….and he’s about as stubborn, yet lovable as the characters the Duke played in all his movies.  Darling daughter also has a fish named Tigger who is a recent addition to our family.

Various friends and family pass this way now and again, and when they do I invariably learn something new about them or about me, so don’t be surprised when you end up in one of my blogs….just know that every word is written in love and that I always come away from these encounters with a new appreciation for the many wonderful people God has used to punctuate my life.
